In early May Fox had a work event in Washington D.C. so bringing Amaris along was a no brainer to enjoy the week in our nation's capital. During the short trip we were able to explore some of the landmarks and Amaris went on her own personal tour de food to enjoy some of the local cuisine. We were fortunate to have accommodations at the luxurious Mandarin Oriental.

First stop on the tour was Zaytinya in the Penn Quarter of D.C. The acclaimed restaurant headed by Chef Jose Andres offers Eastern Mediterranean dishes and Amaris thoroughly enjoyed the cuisine.
She enjoyed the Tzatziki to start, smoked beet salata, and Mediterranean Scallops in a yogurt sauce.

Second stop on the Tour de Food Washington D.C. for Amaris was Dauphine's a few blocks north of Lafayette Square.
The first course was a grilled sea scallop amandine with pommes souffle followed by the beignets for desert. The cocktail pictured below is the sazerac.

Following an awards ceremony on the second night we made an after dark visit to the Lincoln Memorial for a less crowded experience. The memorials lit up at night were a different view that we thoroughly enjoyed and were able to relax without feeling rushed.

As luck would have it, our flight was delayed and we were able to spend some extra time walking around the capitol before leaving for the airport. Stops included the Wharf District, Capitol, National Mall, White House, and Lafayette Square.
